This is one of the family's favorite songs when we play musical chairs or even if we just feel like chanting Mike's name.....the only way it would be better is if the real Mike was here to play with us.
We miss you Mike!
Happy Birthday!
This is a work in progress...so many different directions it could go...just like my kids.

Climbing mountians and smelling flowers
Saturday we went for a hike up Phantom Canyon. We started out hiking up a dry stream bed, but of course that didn't satisfy Eve and Austin's need for height, so they take off up the side of the mountain. Soni and I started up after them with plans to just go to the first big bolder. Soon Phil and Bingham were following and we all just kept climbing. It was pretty steep and nothing felt very stable. My kids are pretty adventurous, so I encourage them to stop when they feel nervous....that was quite a bit higher than where I felt nervous, but I was proud of them for coming back on their own. It was a fun little hike.....once we got the little ones down. By that time, Eve and Austin had started up the other side, so I stayed at the bottom with Soni and Bingham and Phil whet with them. After a while, I hear what sounds like a huge rock slide and Austin screaming. When things settled a bit I could still hear him yelling....happy yelling. Aparently he had a fun time sliding down the side of the mountian because this is what he was yelling: "I feel like angles are lifting me up....I think I need a diaper!" I'm not sure if that was faith replacing fear or vice versa, but he came down with a smile. I took pictures as he told me of his adventure...most were too blury...it was a very exciting story. Eve was a little upset for being left behind, but wiped her tears enough for me to take some cute pictures of her too.

..bound with neverending love
Apparently I'm not the only one who has been missing them this week, so I thought I would share the smaller t-shirt/miscellaneous quilt here on my blog so I could get a good size picture. It's almost done...it will be by the time I head out across the mountains next week. I still need to put the back on and quilt it together, but that shouldn't take long. The scarf across the top isn't actually connected yet....still debating how to do it...or if I should put it on at all. Any ideas?
I have the other TWO large (or possibly 2 small and 1 large) levi quilts cut out, just need to sew them up. My sewing machine needs a tune up first, so all that will have to wait until I get back.
I keep thinking of Mom's cross-stitch..."pieces cut from lives sewn by hand in good times and bad..."
The best quilts are the ones that get used and patched and worn until they are so comfortable you know you could never replace them, but to lock them up in a trunk would be a shame........just thinking of the many hands, sewing and stitching......I love you all.

Potty Training Update
Any questions about who's winning?
He may have the battle, but I will win the war.

A little St. Patrick's Day Mischief
This was left under my couch on the night of the 16th. Interpretation: I had to sneak the chocolate, do not think this is a trap. When I asked Austin if he was trying to catch a leprechaun he said no and that he really just wanted to give it a treat. Maybe I need to explain to him that leprechauns are greedy little elves and that if he's going to be "snik"ing chocolate chips maybe he should save his effort for Santa.

Friday Funnies
After I made Soni clean her room, we were having a little chat in the kitchen. She said she wished she had two moms. One who would let her do everything she wanted and one who wouldn't. So I asked her why she wanted a mom who wouldn't let her do what she wanted. She lowered her voice and said, "Because that's you."
Oh how sweet....I felt so loved that even though I wasn't perfect in her eyes she wasn't about to get rid of me...phew.
Here's a smilebox of what Eve and Austin have been up too...."proudoused" by Eve.
